Random Goodness

So.. for my presentation Jesh and I plan to cook a meal for all you guys... I think it will be amazing.... One of the things that suprises me in the book is that infidelity is such a prevolent subject in the book. Infidelity is mentioned in the songs and referenced in everday life. It kind of blows my mind that they didnt do anything about it. Like when the husbands would go away and then the "other men" would move in. I guess that was just the way of life and nothing could change it. I think it is also crazy how superstitious people are. With the whole mojo thing, I think it seriously ridicolous!!! I dont believe in the whole selling their soul to the devil to get amazing guitar playing skills. Well that is all I have for now

Blogging Summaryay

Well, Greenstar has decided that they want to do a song using sign language. They were in a ASL group in high school (even captain- yaa) That sounds amazing, kind of like a cooler version of the Napolean Dynomite song.
Ruby X has some thought provoking blogs. She has a couple quotes that tie nicely to what we have been discussing at class. Her performance idea has to do with a costume. I am pretty excited for the whole costume thing... I dont believe that earplugs will be neccesary Ruby X!
Culture Jammer is wondering whether to play the piano or to teach us some swing dancing moves. I would opt for the swing dancing lessons, I think it would be a riot!
Steph is going to teach the class some line dancing and relate it back to the kind of dancing that was prevelant in the cajun days. Steph also mentioned how she liked reading the second chapter better and that the first was semi confusing
Ashley's performance ideas seem to be going in every direction from the kazoo to the harmonica, to cooking.
Yeah talks about how the reading assignments were kind of long- I agree, but they were interesting and he found some names to put in his radio station on Pandora.
Brady is talking about in playing a short music clip to different people and getting their reactions . It sounds pretty cool and it will be intersting to see how people react to the music and how they define the genre.
So I am very distracted right now, and thats all I have for now. So I hope you enjoyed my summary. I probably didnt do it justice so it would be cool it u went and checked them out yourself!

one more thought... primitive...

I know this is a little late, but the word primitive is still in my head. Not in any means did I mean to bash the earlier cajun music. I simply used the word primitive because when I think about primitive I think about simpler times with simpler solutions etc. etc. I dont think the word primitive is like the scene from Space Oddessy 2001 where the apes go crazy banging the sticks around. being primitive is like having raw emotion. And actually i am the biggest fan of Dashboard Confessional, which is probably considered very primitive.

You cannot deny the fact though that the music did indeed change. Maybe the change was not what you as a listener wanted, but you cannot be oblivious to the fact that it did change. I dont think it neccesarily means that the newer music is better

Does it matter that the cajun music has changed over the years? I dont really know.. I just made a simple observation.. do what u wish...

Class Discussions

Well.... class discussions so far have been very intersting, we have some very opinionated people in our class. I believe that is a good thing because if u dont stand for something, you fall for everything right?>
all in all I thought the govenor's speech was not that impressive. I have heard very good speakers such as Baxter Black and State FFA officers retiring address and they did better than she did. On the emotional part... i kind of agree that i saw little or no tranisition, but i think she could not help that she cried... but then again, maybe the speech had not room for the crying, i am not sure though about that. I do know, that emotions will get the best of you. One of my good friends starting cryin in her speech about mentoring at the hospital and the stuff she witnessed. I am pretty sure she did not mean to cry, but it happened and it touched the audience. I wished to hear more about katrina because I personally have not heard anything from someone who was that involved with that particular disaster
